Abstract:
All pacemaker systems have three basic components: the pulse generator; the electronic circuitry; and the lead system, which connects the pulse generator to the endocardium. Malfunctions related to the pacemaker lead are commonly due to displacement or fracture. Lead fracture is a rare but potentially fatal pacemaker malfunction. We report, through a clinical picture, the case of a patient who presented to the rhytmology department with transient loss of consciousness causing a head trauma related to a pacemaker's lead fracture. . The broken lead was extracted and replaced by a new one; the patient was discharged uneventfully.
